Ms. Angela Jones serves as chairperson of the Public Relations committee of ODPEC. This role affords her the opportunity to develop and manage the marketing and public relations activities of the organization. She also provides leadership in communicating with local media sources to ensure community awareness of programs and initiatives sourced by and/or supported by ODPEC. Helping and equipping others to achieve their goals is a core value of ODPEC, which is one of the reasons that Angela is excited about being a board member for this organization.
As a pediatric nurse for other 40 years, Ms. Jones’ career has focused on helping children and their families to meet not only their goals toward physical wellness but also other goals aimed at their social and mental wellbeing. She currently serves as a quality/safety specialist in a pediatric community hospital. Her other volunteer activities involve working with young teenage girls through RARE Pearls, Inc., a group mentoring program for high school girls. She served on the board of that organization for two years, served as chairperson of the major fundraising campaign and has been a mentor in the program for six years.
Ms. Jones has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for over 45 years and is an active member of the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also actively involved in youth and children’s ministries at her church through creatively organizing programs and helping to promote the gifts of others. Ms. Jones is most thankful and proud of her young adult son. She looks forward to continuing to contribute and serve through ODPEC.
