Ms. Leatha Whitfield

Giving back to the community is Ms. Leatha Whitfield’s true passion. With over 30 years of experience as an accomplished leader in Information Technology, she is balancing more of her time to give back to the next generation in the local community.  One of her goals is to provide a means for mentorship to students in their educational curriculum and future careers.

In her professional capacity, Ms. Whitfield is currently a management consultant providing Information Technology services to private clients. Prior to working in the private industry, she was most recently with Plains All American Pipeline, L.P. as a Senior Director of Information Technology.  Ms. Whitfield helps companies achieve growth by developing and leading automated software solutions, transforming legacy systems into digital technologies, enterprise requirements planning, data warehousing, collaboration management, cloud computing, robotics process automation, graphical information systems and other technology solutions for the oil & gas, banking, and retail industries.

Ms. Whitfield foresees partnering with local school districts and universities to engage students early on with technology in preparation for numerous jobs that must be filled with new talent. Hundreds of jobs in information technology are available and continue to increase exponentially, but not enough persons have skills to fill them. She further envisions being a leader in bringing technology and innovation awareness to those who are underrepresented in the One Delta Plaza Educational Center (ODPEC) community. Ms. Whitfield is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree with emphasis in Management Information Systems.

As ODPEC’s Technology Committee Chair, Ms. Whitfield is responsible for oversight of website development and maintenance, social media administration and other technologies that benefit the corporation and community.  She previously served on a nonprofit board assisting with the development of bylaws and compliance, and served as volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association, March of Dimes and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2006, Ms. Whitfield served on ODPEC’s Internal Audit Committee.
